Ex-employee Racks Up Large Bill After Fraudulently Obtaining Cell Service
A Lawrenceburg business owner filed a complaint with law enforcement officers Monday, reporting that an ex-employee had fraudulently used his business information to obtain cell phone service, then racked up a hefty bill.
The owner of Smith Service Center on North Locust Avenue reported to officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department that a former office worker had obtained Verizon Wireless service with several phones under the name of his business.
He said that she had apparently forged his signature on the paperwork in order to do so. The account had an unpaid balance in excess of $3,000.
The victim said that he suspects the woman may have also obtained a credit card using either his name or the name of his business. He told officers that all of these actions had been done without his consent.
At the present time the matter remains under investigation through the department's Criminal Investigation Division.
